Wall Push-Up demonstrated against a wall

Set up

Hands on the wall at chest height, shoulder-width apart, feet stepped back.

How to do it well

  1. 1

Lower your chest toward the wall, not your forehead.

  2. 2

Elbows travel back at about forty-five degrees, not straight out to the sides.

  3. 3

The body stays one line from head to heels throughout.

The cue you’ll hear most

“Lower your chest to the wall, not your forehead.”

The single most common fault on this move — your voice coach calls it out a quarter of the way into every interval.

Make it easier

Step your feet closer to the wall.

Make it harder

Step further back, or take four seconds to lower on every repetition.
